Lately, Mark Cuban from the TV show Shark Tank was being interviewed by Bloomberg about President Trump and about the job market. In that interview, he says that liberal arts majors are going to be in more demand than engineering and finance because those types of jobs would be automated in the future. Now, let me tell you why Cuban is full of shit. You do not have liberal arts to be a “free thinker”. Elon Musk is a free thinker and he didn’t need liberal arts to be able to create Tesla, Solar City or Space X. In order to be a thinker, all you need to do is come up with ideas that can be solutions. That’s it. You don’t need to spend four years at a university trying to study philosophy or history.
Another reason why Mark Cuban is full of BS, is that his predictions are inaccurate. During the 2016 U.S. presidential election, he said that if Donald Trump won, the stock market would crash. And guess what? That. Never. Fucking. Happened. As a matter of fact, stocks have gone up when Trump was sworn into office.
So why trust Cuban? Just because he’s a billionaire? The guy literally made a fortune by selling a failing company to Yahoo. That’s how he became a billionaire. Simply out of luck. And right now, he’s telling many students that are about to go into college to waste four years majoring in stupid shit just because it won’t be “automated”.
So don’t waste your time listening to this bozo and find a career that is actually valuable than the liberal arts.
